Norfolk Pension Fund has £118 million invested in fossil fuels; coal, oil, and gas. That’s over £1000 per employee. We think if the members knew this, they wouldn’t want their money invested this way. All the members we’ve spoken to agree with us, and polling data shows people don’t support local governments investing pensions in fossil fuels.
We took to the streets on the last Saturday of November with our model derrick ‘oil rig’ and a whole bunch of oily money to draw attention to what the Norfolk County Council is doing with the money of the pension members.
We spoke to dozens of passers by, some were surprised to hear what’s being done with the money while others were disappointed but not surprised.
